October 2007 – France hosted the 6th Rugby World Cup

'The Pilgrimage,' hosted in the unique style of ‘the active gourmet,’ was a special journey designed for about 40 like-minded Kiwis in search of the quintessential France.

Special wine-tastings & a degustation of regional beers of France were experienced and great meals enjoyed in unexpected places.

Transport varied – TGV fast train, horse and cart, old riverboat, on foot, by mountainbike.

Check the gallery below for some of the action!

But what about the rugby?!!!. Oh well, we did mention the word ‘elusive’!……..

‘The Pilgrimage' supported the NZ Rugby Foundation by helping raise much-needed funding - $37,000 - for those less fortunate members of the rugby family – the injured players. (Each pilgrim paid a 'tithe' to the NZ Rugby Foundation.)
